Children’s Health in the U.S. – Part 1


Demographics

  • In 2014, there were 73.6 million children in the U.S.
    • Increase of 1.2 million children compared to 2000
  • By 2020, less than 50% of children are projected to be White, non-Hispanic
  • By 2050, it is projected that:
    • 32% of children will be Hispanic (up from 24% in 2014)
    • 39% of children will be White, non-Hispanic (decrease from 52% in 2014)
    • Increasing racial and ethnic diversity of the U.S.

Since 2000, there has been an increase in the number and a shift in the racial and ethnic diversity of children in the United States.
