State of Hawaii Priorities for Children’s Health


Hawaii DOH MCH Division: State Priorities for Children (Target Date 2020)

  1. Reduce infant mortality by breastfeeding
  2. Reduce infant mortality by promoting safe sleep practices
  3. Improve early screening (special focus on 0-5 years) for developmental delay
  4. Reduce child abuse/neglect (special focus children ages 0-5 years)
  5. Improve the % of youth (ages 14-21 years) with special health care needs transition to adult health care
  6. Improve the healthy development, health, safety and well-being adolescents
  7. Improve the oral health of children

There are seven child/children specific priorities that have been identified by the Hawaii Maternal-Child Division with 2020 the target date to achieve improvements in these.
