Injuries
Among children 5-15 years of age, injuries (e.g. falls, burns, traffic injuries, drowning) are among the top 3 causes of death or lifelong disabilities.
In 2012:
- 740,000 children under the age of 15 years died as a result of violence or unintentional injuries
- 90% of these deaths were due to unintentional injuries
