The U.N. Global Strategies for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health builds upon the 2010 Global Strategy for Women’s and Children’s Health with the goal of achieving the revised objectives within the proposed 15 year timeframe, 2016 to 2030.

It serves to provide guidance for UN Member states to improve women’s, children’s and adolescents’ health in all places (including crisis situations) and for transnational issues.

It has expanded to focus on ensuring the safety of women, children and adolescents including upholding their human rights to receive the highest level of health regardless of the circumstances.
It integrates a comprehensive approach that includes nutrition, education, sanitation, clean water and air, and infrastructures to ensure that the achievement of the goals can be sustained.
